Got Your Back

With the recent anniversary of Pope St. John Paul II’s canonization on Divine Mercy Sunday 2014, it is a good time to be reminded of what this amazing pope and saint-to-be said about divorced Catholics. He has our back!

I earnestly call upon pastors and the whole community of the faithful to help the divorced and with solicitous care to make sure that they do not consider themselves as separated from the Church, for as baptized persons they can, and indeed must, share in her life. – Blessed John Paul II,  Familiaris consortio

  1. I have not been back to the Catholic church since shortly after divorced. My Parents spend their days on their knees for me at 76. I kept going at first but wept through the entire mass. Feeling alienated and alone. I continue to encourage my children, my last will be confirmed this year. I spent my entire marriage teaching CCD, head of the Elizabeth Ministry, baking, volunteering, etc. I just feel so lost in the whole thing. It will be five years in March and am not sure I have made progress. My ex was not a man of faith and would attend mass with family on Christmas and Easter. He often poked fun at Catholics. I was raised very strict Catholic and even led my mother to Medjugorje with me in 2000. Not sure if I am stuck in a depression or the devil has my toes! I look forward to these inspirations daily. Thank You.
