“Gentleman, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to make the world’s first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better. Stronger. Faster,” were the opening words to the iconic 1970’s TV show, Bionic Man. The whole premise of the show is based on how an astronaut, Steve Austin, is “rebuilt” using high tech parts after crashing his experimental plane. Once the rebuilding is complete, Steve can run at speeds exceeding 60 mph, see through walls with his X-ray vision, and jump five times higher than a normal man. He is not just rebuilt to his previous self, he is now extra-ordinary, using his new super-self to help other people and fight crime.

Believe it or not, the same can happen to you after divorce, if you take the right steps. It’s doubtful that you will be able to jump over your house, but you can rebuild your life so that you are a much improved version of yourself than you were before your divorce — a super-self. What is the “technology” you can use? Jesus Christ.

Too many people use their own inventions to try and recover from divorce, and end up becoming a patched-up version of their former selves, hobbling through the rest of their lives settling for a life of less than. There is a much better way. Rebuild yourself on Christ using His Word, His sacraments, and His Church, and you are sure to emerge from your divorce a super version of yourself, living a life filled with an extra-ordinary amount of purpose, peace, joy, and love.

So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come. – 2 Corinthians 5:17
